InterRail: a brand new pass and new fares from 1 April 2007!
The InterRail and EuroDomino rail passes have been completely reviewed and are to be combined into one pass: the InterRail Pass. The fare structure of the new InterRail pass will become much simpler from 1 April as there will be two types only and the same conditions will apply to both.
- InterRail Global Pass:
Valid in all 30 InterRail countries. Unlike with the current EuroDomino passes, Spain, France and Italy will be included again in the list of InterRail countries. Morocco, however, will not participate anymore. For 5 days of travel across Europe within 10 days an adult will pay £179.30. A second class pass for 10 days of travel within 22 days will cost £258.50. - InterRail One Country Pass:
Valid for 3, 4, 6 or 8 non-consecutive days of travel within a month within one of the 30 InterRail countries. The price will depend on the country and all the countries will be divided into 4 different price categories. - InterRail Germany Pass:
Germany will fall in the highest price level with France, Great Britain, Norway and Sweden. The InterRail passes for a country in price level 1 will cost £136.10 for 3 days of travel in second class. Young people up to 26 years will be able to purchase the pass, with a considerable discount, at £90 for 3 days of travel. That is a saving of £10 in comparison with the current pass for Germany! - All InterRail countries:
Price level 1: Great Britain, France, Germany, Sweden and Norway
Price level 2: Austria, Benelux, Finland, "Greece Plus", Republic of Ireland, Italy, Spain and Switzerland
Price level 3: Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia
Price level 4: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey
The pass will not be available for the country in which the traveller is resident. However, there will be a reduction of 25% for one return ticket to the border (children pay half the reduced fare). Information on supplements and on when the new pass can be purchased will be available from mid February 2007. Please browse our website for the latest information and to see an overview of all new InterRail fares!
Winter Special
Deutsche Bahn currently has a special offer: the “Winter Special” valid between 13 January and 28 February 2007. For journeys within Germany prices start from £25 per person for any distance, and for journeys to Germany’s seven neighbouring countries from £32 per person. There is an extra discount of £3.60 on both of these fares if the Winter Special is booked online. By day part of the journey at least must be on an ICE, IC or EC train, but the offer is also valid on Deutsche Bahn’s night trains, plus a small supplement for a seat or berth.
