By rail from the UK to Austria and Switzerland
- Eurostar plus night train - the DB NachtZug London Ticket:
The easiest way to travel by rail from London to the host cities in Austria is by Eurostar to Paris, by City Night Line from Paris to Munich and by day train to Innsbruck, Salzburg or Vienna. For Klagenfurt there would be one more change in Salzburg. As most of the journey takes place overnight, valuable time is saved. Fares for a return journey London - Salzburg, for example, start from £175 per person in second class. - From London via Cologne to Austria & Switzerland:
It takes about 5 hours to travel by Eurostar and ICE/Thalys to Cologne from where direct night trains operate to Basle, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Vienna and Zurich. Return fares London – Cologne start from £70 per person. The return fare on any of these night trains with the special SparNight offer starts from £42 for a seat. - Within 7 hours to Switzerland:
The host cities in Switzerland can also easily be reached by daytime trains. London – Paris takes 2h 15 min. From Paris, direct TGV trains connect the French capital with Basle, Zurich and Geneva in 6 to 7.5 hours. From Basle there is a fast service to Berne. - From airports in Austria and Switzerland
The airports of Geneva, Graz, Vienna and Zurich each have their own railway station, which feeds directly into the ÖBB or SBB rail network. All other airports in Austria and Switzerland have regular bus or tram connections to the nearest main railway station. Airports in south Germany are viable alternatives too as Friedrichshafen airport offers a good connection to Zurich, and Munich Airport is about 2 hours by rail from Innsbruck and Salzburg.
Travel time by train between the host cities
Extra services for the UEFA 2008 will include additional trains in all host cities after each match and additional night services on local, regional and long-distance public transport.
