Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg – a journey to the world of Volkswagen
The idea of ‘Volkswagen’ – a reliable car that was affordable for everyone – was the beginning of Wolfsburg’s history. Today you can learn more about the subjects of ‘automobile’ and ‘mobility’ in a new and astounding fashion in the so-called “Autostadt”. But apart from extraordinary design and modern technologies you will also find lovely and interesting places of cultural heritage in Wolfsburg.

Autostadt
Situated very close to where the first Volkswagen was born, the Autostadt invites you to a journey into the world of Volkswagen. Besides several pavilions dedicated to each manufacturer in the Volkswagen Group and a customer centre where customers can pick up new cars, the Autostadt features a museum with a large variety of multimedia activities.
The two 200 ft tall glass silos used as storage for new Volkswagens are an impressive landmark and an example of the Autostadt’s ultra modern architecture - and can now be experienced from the inside (Car Tower Discovery).
Special offer: Travel to the Autostadt at a reduced fare with the Autostadt Special! If tickets for the train and for the Autostadt museum are booked at the same time, Deutsche Bahn gives a considerable discount on the rail travel. For example, two adults and a child of 14 or younger pay only £49.70 instead of £118.10 for a return journey Berlin – Wolfsburg. It is easy to book rail tickets and Autostadt entrance tickets together at one of Deutsche Bahn’s counters at any station in Germany or over the phone in the UK by calling 08718 80 80 66 (8p per minute).
Schloss Wolfsburg (Wolfsburg Castle)
The impressive castle in Weser renaissance style does not just lend the city of Wolfsburg its name, it is also its cultural heart. The city gallery, the art society and the city museum are all housed in the castle's interior. Visiting there, you will find traces of history displayed in an entertaining way. Discover the castle’s origins and find out about knights, counts – and ghosts.
