Services on Board

Attendants on Board
DB Staff on all trains are there to help passengers at all times who have questions or are in need of assistance. They also check tickets and sell them for a small extra charge. If you have any questions or are unsure about your connecting services please do not hesitate to ask them - they are there to help you and make your journey as pleasant as possible.
Announcements on Trains
On most ICE, IC and EC and trains, arrivals and connecting services are announced via loudspeakers.

Baby/Small Child Compartment
On EC/IC and ICE trains, seats can be reserved in a special compartment so that parents and children can travel undisturbed. Changing tables are available on the trains.

Credit Cards
Tickets bought from the train attendant's mobile terminal can be paid with credit cards (Visa, ELECTRON Card, EUROCARD/MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, JCB).
Coach Location / Train Formation Indicator
If you are traveling on long-distance trains, the large display cases on the platform indicate the position of each individual coach of the train on a platform section. For this reason platforms are divided into sections A to E.

On-board catering
ICE trains, some EC trains and most IC trains have a bistro offering light snacks and meals. Additionally, a wide selection of hot and cold drinks is available. On many trains, the staff also serves passengers at their seat with light snacks and drinks.
Telephone
To use the telephones on the ICE and EC trains you need a phone card, which is available at post offices and from our train staff.
